Learning to Skate

A group of children and adults on roller skates, smiling and cheering. Outside on a tennis court.

Rollerskating FUNdamentals classes at Waikanae are back!

Every Tuesday afternoon - 2 levels to choose from:
4 PM: Learn to Skate - how to fall safely, and get started rolling, safety tips rolled into a fun and supportive atmosphere.
5 PM: Level up your skills with Skating Fun and Games - for skaters who are already able to propel themselves and come to an unassisted stop. We'll practice the foundational skills needed, so your skater has the confidence to tackle their particular interest, whether it be artistic skating, hitting the skate park, junior roller derby, or confidently navigate a variety of outdoor skating surfaces.

A new block starts each month. We'll post a registration link 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the next block of lessons.

Coming up in June!

Tuesday Morning Mojo: It's a work-out, a skating class, a dance party! Give your endorphins a jump-start, strengthen your core and build your skating booty with Kirsten every Tuesday from 9 - 10 AM. You should be able to propel yourself and come to an unassisted stop before attending these sessions.
Casual rate: $12/class or buy a 10-class pass for $100.

Learn to Skate Lessons for adults:
Tuesdays from 10:15 - 10:45 at Waikanae Hall
Hire skates available.
Bookings are essential. Register for June now!

Private Skating Lessons

Private lessons for children or adults can be arranged on an hourly basis for individuals or small groups.  Skates for hire are available.

We offer a complimentary half-hour introduction to skating class with every local skate purchase. Learn how to balance, stop safely, and get some tips for practicing at home. These lessons can be at the shop or at a local park or preferred skating spot.

Individual or small group lessons are tailored to your specific needs - we'll chat about your skating goals. You may want to book a series or just a confidence-boosting one-off.

Outdoor Skating Skills - are you keen to skate further afield, but want some help safely navigating inclines, hills, steps, and different skating surfaces? Past locations have included Paraparaumu Waterfront, the skate trail between Porirua and Tawa, the Wellington Waterfront, Hutt River Trail and Avalon Park. We've also travelled to skaters' local parks, playgrounds and school yards to help them navigate spaces they want to skate regularly.

Team Building - we'll bring the skates to you or arrange for a session at a suitable skate space for small groups! Participants work together in a fun environment, learning a new skill and connecting with each other in a totally different context to what they're used to!

Please contact us directly to enquire about rates, book a session or sign up to our mailing list.
