Then we locked ourselves in the Shifty Lab with too much coffee, a stack of rulers,
and a suspicious amount of grip tape to design the perfect Ready-To-Ride Beginner
Skateboard.
THE DECK?
7 plys with coloured ply to match the graphics that are light enough for kids, strong
enough to survive the big bro.
THE TRUCKS?
91A bushings. Stable enough that even dad probably won’t tip over.
Kingpin clearance tested and approved by Young Guns Skate School.
THE WHEELS?
97A conical shape. Smooth, fast, and slightly softer to forgive rough concrete while
still not being marshmallow-soft.
THE GRIPTAPE?
An ever-so-slightly grippier grip. Enough hold for confidence, not enough to destroy
shoes in a week.
THE RESULT?
A complete, ready-to-ride skateboard that’s been thoroughly over-thought and
over-tested — for anyone ready to skate in New Zealand.
